Abrams Hill. This project was a full overhaul. Truly a 360-degree job! The unique hillside property was suffering from significant erosion problems and a varied landscape of trees and shrubs, some healthy and many suffering from neglect. The challenge was to bring cohesion to this rambling property while opening it up to its coastal view, creating privacy and summer appeal.
I planted native shrubs to rebuild and stabilize the bluffs. Bayberry, rosa rugosa and beach plum are all welcome low maintenance additions. Five new trees are highlights whether providing great privacy – the weeping tree or summer blooms – the stewartia, or the magnolia for fragrance, each plays a different role.
Original stonework to the property inspired new stone walls and rebuilding the front steps for a dramatic entry lined with variegated pachysandra. Changes to the location of the driveway and the addition of the shell driveway are now more attractive and functional without interrupting the landscape. This is a very natural landscape with a lot of interest and fragrance.
